One of the great things about the internet today is that everyone uses it. The latest evidence suggests that nearly 2/3 of Americans are on the internet every day, and that more than 90% have some internet access, even if they have to go to the local library for it. With everyone using the internet, how do you ensure that the right people find your site?
Content by an experienced web writer will naturally attract the right traffic, the people who are looking specifically for your business and want to pay for your service or product.
Who Are Your Clients?
For most businesses, your client base is not absolutely everyone on the internet. Instead, you’re trying to target a select segment of the population, the people who are actually likely to use your service. Your client base may be limited by:
- Income
- Age
- Ethnicity
- Subculture
Each division of client base is marked by particular language usage. Google and other search engines encourage natural language use, allowing people to put in searches using language that varies from the most formal to the most casual. The language that people search with is a key to who they are and why they’re searching, and if you use the right language on your site, you will attract the right people.
If you know who you are trying to attract, we’ll look at language and search patterns to try to figure out the right language to bring them to your site.
Keep the Big Door Open
But what do you do if you want to attract people from many different segments of society? If, for example, you’re a lawyer who wants people of all demographics who have been injured in car accidents? You write multiple pages targeted toward people of different demographics. The language of each of these pages will be designed not only to attract traffic from that demographic, but to express your understanding of their concerns and reach out to them specifically to win their trust and their business.
Whether you are targeting a specific segment of the population or want to reach a wider audience, language is the key to the internet. All the clients you could ever want are out there, trying to find you. Open the door and let ’em in.
